Vox Organ Transistors

This organ was manufactured by Galanti Electro Musical or GEM using Vox parts with the Germanium SFT 351 transistors all of which are in tact. I have a Vox Jaguar V304 and it is the same instrument except the bass chord sounds on the GEM are slightly more interesting.

Output Transistor Replacements. All of the Thomas Vox NPN output transistors are silicon replaceable with 2N3055. I think that they actually are 2N3055 just stamped with a special in-house number for Thomas. If you have an amp with a penchant for eating power transistors you could replace the outputs with 2SC5200 NPN or 2SA1943 PNP.

American transistor organ enthusiast Barry Carson has created a great set of programs for the Farfisa and Vox-organs in the Nord Electro 3 Nord Stage 2 and Nord C2 recreating many of the legendary organ sounds known from the popular music of the sixties.

The Thomas Organ Vox amplifiers were never common and theyre becoming downright rare. When these things break they can be hard to find parts for.. Instead they used a two-transistor amplifier to drive the primary of a driver transformer which then ran the output transistors.

Replace both transistors on the 5th divider referencing to the drawing at at left and recheck the organ.
